banned books week
i need to pay more attention. Banned Books Week ends on saturday, and i didn't realize it was going on until yesterday.
this web site has a map of books that have been challenged and/or banned across the country for the past two years. the closest one to me? portage high school banned Stephen Chbosky's The Perks of Being a Wallflower over parental objections to sexual content. i'm not saying the parents are wrong ... but it does make me want to read the book to see what the stink is all about.

ohhhh i wanna read banned books!
I was just trying to explain censorship to Maya this morning and explained that at one time Huckleberry Finn was pulled from library shelves. Maybe still? This looks like a great place to make a reading list. I want to read banned books!
