the world's shortest fairytale
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?' The girl said "no." And the girl lived happily ever-after and went shopping, dancing, camping, drank martinis, always had a clean house, never had to cook, did whatever she wanted, never argued, traveled more, had many lovers, saved money, and had all the hot water to herself. She went to the theatre, never watched sports, never wore freakin' lacy lingerie that went up her butt, had high self esteem, never cried or yelled, felt and looked fabulous in sweat pants and was pleasant all the time.

that's my kind of fairy tale ;-)
That is a wonderful fairy tale! ... but it paints such a grim picture of marriage. Within my marriage I have total freedom to do all those things (and I think I do all those things) except the part about having many lovers and a clean house. I do love it though, because I don't think anyone should feel the need to get married. Single or married - life is beautiful!
Like I wasn't jealous of you before, Patti ;) But yes, single or married, life is beautiful. However this is still my favorite fairy tale ever.
Boys, schmoys. And that's the problem, we're still dealing with a lot of boys. I've dated older, much older, younger, (but not yet the much younger) and there is no formula for calculating their maturity. I thought that wearing a tie was a good indicator. Oops, wrong again! I'm still holding out hope for a good man to come along. One who is good enough for ME and not the other way around.
It took leaving a marriage (along with a whole lotta other stuff) to find out who I really was inside and what I wanted. And I like what I see every day in the mirror (bad hair days excluded). You don't need a man to make you feel that way about yourself and I think that's the spirit of this fairy tale.
And remember, your true girlfriends love you just the way you are. I have found they are worth their weight in gold ;)
I enjoyed this.
